Clinical research has changed noticeably over the course of its 274 year history. From the first ever clinical trial on HMS Salisbury to this past year where clinical research found a vaccine for COVID-19 in under a year, an unprecedented feat. Over a long history, change has understandably happened but the speed of change and notoriety of the industry are possibly at their greatest right now.
It’s hard to imagine what the next year will hold for clinical trials, but it’s undeniable that the achievements of this past year will have a lasting impact on demands and expectations of the industry as well as appreciation. International Clinical Trials Day provides a valuable benchmark for reflection and this needs to be acknowledged.
