IAOCR believes firmly that the clinical research sector needs to wholly embrace a competence-based approach to staffing and we have been leading the charge on this since 2011. Unfortunately, clinical research is still behind other sectors in this regard, however over the least two years we have seen an increasing number of Regulators and sponsors aligning with a competence-based approach.
Staffing based on length of tenure is not robust – it is risky and unsustainable. A competence-based approach also opens up exciting opportunities to talented newcomers!
